I've only had it for a week, so the jury is still out. On the good side, this allowed me to record for 1.5 hours without interruption. Also, although specs say up to 8GB flash drive, I used a 16GB with no problems. The camera also has a quick tripod release that makes battery changing easy. ALL OF THESE THINGS WERE GREAT. One set of four AAA batteries lasted me 2 hours. This does NOT have a rechargeable battery, so figure that into your long-term cost. On the negative side, I bought this so I would have a continual sound track while splicing in clips (using iMovie) taken with my other digital camera. The microphone on this camera is nearly worthless IMHO. The sound quality of a simple digital camera was far superior. Overall, I think I will be able to work around the sound problem because my particular application has a sound track available that can be merged with iMovie, but the microphone quality was a bit of a disappointment.

I got this on clearance for $15 (50% off), which undoubtedly speaks volumes right there. To make a long story short, it's good for taking really quick video like, "Hey guys, this is my new cat!" If you're looking for anything archival, look a little harder. Even in a well-lit room, it doesn't pick up light very well, and even with three brand new AAA batteries I only got about five seconds of video before it said it wanted new batteries. (To be fair, they're rechargeables, so I don't know if that's a factor since all I have are rechargeables.)

But it's cheap, in EVERY sense of the word, so what do you want. If you want something that lasts, look for something with an optional POWER CABLE at the very least, or you'll be feeding the battery monster for not much return on your investment.

easy to use and pretty durable so far. my 10 year old uses this camera primarily. it does eat thru batteries so i would suggest getting some recharge able batteries.

The first thing you notice is that this camera is a whole lot smaller than you thought it was going to be. Without the waterproof case it measures a diminutive 2.75 inches wide, and the 2 inch viewing screen covers almost the entire back of the camera.

The camera ships without a memory card, so when you buy one I highly recommend at least a Class 10 Micro SD card. Any HD video camera deserves it. A slower card may not record HD video quick enough to prevent problems such as having your recording stop before you're ready or, worst of all, a slow card might result in data corruption and a camera lock-up. This could be the source of some bad reviews that mention the camera freezing up. Also, you ought to respect the Busy light and do not ask the camera to do anything else while it's saving a file. Just to be safe, there is a tiny reset button on the bottom of the camera. Hope you never have to use it, but it's a better choice than waiting for the battery to expire. So far, I've recorded about 90 minutes of video and plenty of still pictures without a glitch.
